Tears of Nostagia
I remember, it was a joyous occasion. I was informed I’ve got a cousin sister. My first sibling. We were a joint family then. So there was no concept of cousin. We called each other brother’s and sisters. :)
As our strength grew, we became a gang of 5 girls and 3 boys. Later on, this grew to 5 girls and 5 boys. The youngest one is I guess 2-3 years old. Things have changed now. We took different courses in life. But deep down in the heart we definitely missed each other.
My greatest loss in life was compensated by god in a different way. I happened to meet my cousins after a gap of 3 years on the unfortunate loss of my grandfather.
We were stunned to see each other, at loss of words. We were quite not sure. Do we grieve for the sad occasion or be happy that we met. As the grown ups say Bache kitne bade hogeye hai na.…. actually felt like saying “All those toddlers had morphed into young teenagers, at least most of them”.
Now, we meet up occasionally and may be in touch with some one with the advanced technologies like sms, social networking sites.
When we are adults, we still look back at those moments and love them for their innocence. I had started my college, and I would take my cousin to CCD or landmark just to splurge money. It used to be like the girls day out. My school friends still enquire about my cousins :)
It’s a distant dream to have the GANG of 5 to have a night out. It would be really fun. Wake up all night, gossip, take views about topics which we never dare to speak of in front of our parents!
I always feel, emotion are as deep as an ocean, and what we pen down is probably just a drop of it. But it feels better when literacy helps you vent your emotions. Nothing like Poetry.
In the bitterness of relationships,
The innocence is long lost.
Stored somewhere in the attic of the heart,
Are those bubbly moments of our chirpy talk.
As the waves hit hard the rocks on the shore,
Here I sit drowned in the tears of nostalgia.
